appreciating ourselves

We live our lives and perceive the world primarily through the lens of our opinion of ourselves—our relationship to ourselves.Whatever we think, feel, and believe to be true about ourselves, so we think, feel, and believe about others and about the world in general—directly or indirectly. How we feel about ourselves is more important than anything else. Underneath everything we do or have ever done is our perception of ourselves and a strong desire to appreciate ourselves. However, we often seem to go about this backwards: trying to succeed, achieve, and prove things to ourselves and others so that we feel deserving of appreciation, instead of appreciating ourselves to begin with.
